A Hydrodynamic Mixing Zone Model and Decision Support System for Pollutant Discharges into Surface Waters.The development of CORMIX was initiated in 1986 as a research project to demonstrate practical application of artificial intelligence on desktop computers for environmental management. Due to the widespread misapplication of existing USEPA plume modeling techniques, a rule based expert systems approach was proposed to increase the level of model application to 85% of regulatory mixing zones.
